I do not like the title of this book, but once you understand why the author choose the title, it makes complete sense. There really is no other word to describe the tendencies or weaknesses of a woman, as ugly as they can be. This book was very eye opening for me! It's easy to read and will break you if you're willing to read it and allow your brokenness to be healed. As I read different parts to my husband he would laugh or get the eyes that said, "Yah, that's true, but I can't really say that to you." It's heartbreaking to see how our B***** like qualities hurt the one most loved in our lives. Great book!Product details

So much I love about this book! It's about real people, particularly Jan, living real lives of faith and doubt, anger and joy, rage and sorrow. Although Jan's description of the bitch in me is right on, there was no shame or condemnation or better-try-harder in her words. Only the hope of glory that beauty will win! I did not want the book to end...it was like having a long coffee date with Jan. As I turned the last page, I was aware of my deep longing to live more from that place of beauty than bitch.
From page one I felt like this book was written exclusively for me. I could relate to many examples in the book. Thankfully my experiences were not as devastating as others but we all have our own crucible to get through. When I find myself being a BITCH....I can now see the why!!!!! Hopefully I can come to a place where I will not need to be a BITCH. I wish it was published in paper so I could buy a copy for my daughter and my best friend!!!!!
It was if this book was written to and for me...so many things I identified with. Jan allow herself to be vulnerable and authentic showing those things we often try to just shove down and hide. By laying them out there it helped me realize I am not alone in feeling those things and identify some reasons why I feel that way and more importantly how to let my Father tend to them. Thank you for this book and sharing from tender places.
This is one of those books that I will have to read several times to really get the full impact! I found myself in several incarnations of "The Bitch". However, Jan doesn't leave us with the simple discovery of our inner bitch, she eloquently and poetically points to hope and redemption through a love that is so extravagent as to render us childlike once again. Proett's writing style begs to be savored and reflected upon. Well done!
This book is raw and authentic. It validates and brings understanding to the impact of the fall on a woman's heart. It's very captivating!
First,this is not a book just for women..The issues are important and relevant for everyone..in a Christian context....With that said...I don't believe I can do a book review for my church sunday school class...so,it may or may not be for everyone ..???..The book is well written and spoke to me in a number of ways..relationships,family,love,faith...It's a book that will have you thinking..about where you've been..and where you are going...It's worth the time..

Oh, this book comes as wondrous good news to my parched and faltering heart today. In fact, this is about the best news I could hear. The author offers so generously from her own story; its as if she were reaching her hand out to all of us, coming alongside us exactly where we are, mired in bitch and longing for beauty, and assures us that this journey from "fear and control, pride and contempt, addiction and deadness" to true beauty and inward rest is possible, and moreover its a journey that is neither up to us, nor one we have to take alone. "Beauty is not something to be attained. It is to be released, untethered from the deepest place with us, set free from the echo chambers of the safety of Eden where our hearts were free to display the image of God." Oh, thank you, God for this kind, strong beckoning of hope and wonder on this August morning....
